About The Kiddies' Box
The Kiddies' Box Inc. is dedicated to establishing and maintaining a conduit for the redistribution of clean, high-quality paper from area print shops to be used in regional educational institutions.
Anyone associated with the printing industry is well aware of how much paper is thrown away each day. Much of this paper is clean, reusable, premium paper that can be salvaged with little effort. Disposal of this paper is costly to the printer; much of it is ideal for arts and crafts projects.
In June 2009, Lee Gaylord (pictured at left) started a formal effort to reclaim this wasted resource. In July 2009, we incorporated The Kiddies’ Box as an Idaho Non-Profit group. We are a 100% volunteer organization, with Lee acting as the primary organizer and driver for Kiddies' Box. Crown Media & Printing, Inc. generously provides us with warehouse space, while Michael Lynch of Letterpress USA provides a staging area, hauls countless pallets of paper to the warehouse, and converts products like seedling cups, CD sleeves, and folders.
We are currently working towards achieving 501(c)3 non-profit status with the IRS. With this status, we hope to receive grants to support the broader goals of the project, one of which is to provide intern positions and valuable workforce training to young adults with special needs.
In the meantime, we actively work towards raising funds for our projects by conducting workshops to teach gift tag making and by soliciting donations from within the community.
